At Destiny Empowerment Center Inc., we are raising the bar to eradicate food insecurity. Hunger affects tens of millions of people throughout the United States and tens of thousands in Norfolk County alone. Our food pantries serve the communities in the greater Boston area through mobile and permanent locations, and we don’t plan on stopping there. 

By utilizing innovative approaches and our passion for helping people in need, we strive for continuous improvement and growth across all of our programs.  Feeding the Hungry was born out of the ever-increasing demand for accessible nutrition. Food insecurity defies borders and social demographics. People of all backgrounds, locations, and walks of life struggle to get enough to eat. 

Addressing food insecurity means providing both sustenance and peace of mind, which allows people to develop in other areas of their lives, as well. We care about the whole person and want to ensure that everyone is given the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilled life. That’s why our holistic approach to community service addresses hunger, physical wellness, education, development, and mental health needs.  

Destiny Empowerment Center Inc. believes that reliable access to nutritional food is the foundation for addressing many other areas of need. We hope that through our Feeding the Hungry program, we can feed our community’s body, mind, and soul. 

Thanks to the Department of Agriculture, Walmart, Individuals, , supermarket, retail stores and wholesalers, we can assist families that have need of food supplements.

Good oral hygiene habits and regular dental checkups are vital to more than just oral health. Your mouth is a gateway to your digestive and respiratory organs, which means your oral health impacts the health of nearly every part of your body. Destiny Empowerment Center, Inc. strives to make dental cleanings and checkups available for everyone, especially those who struggle to access these much-needed health services.

We collaborate with licensed dentists and other dental professionals in our stationary and mobile dental clinics to reach the communities most in need. Our clinics target underserved communities and uninsured populations to provide regular and consistent cleanings and exams. People with more urgent or operative needs can also receive x-rays, fillings, extractions, and dental sealants. 

Economic status should not dictate access to health services; everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life. Communities of color, elderly populations, Native Americans, migrant and seasonal workers, children, and homeless individuals have all historically been underserved in many areas of need, including access to medical and dental care. Our stationary clinic is conveniently located for community members who can travel to us, but we recognize that not everyone has access to reliable transportation. That’s why we also offer mobile dental clinics, which allow us to serve more people throughout the greater Boston area.

Program Description – 

How a community treats its most vulnerable members can speak volumes. At Destiny Empowerment Center Inc., we hope that the message we send with our actions is – we care. We care about instilling self-sufficiency in all our community members. We care about building a network of opportunities to promote financial independence. We care about the professional development and personal growth of every person we serve. 

Self-sufficiency means more than financial security; it is crucial to a person’s overall wellbeing. It is inextricably linked to self-esteem, psychological stability, and emotional balance. Self-sufficient people trust themselves and their capabilities. Because of the far-reaching effects of self-sufficiency, it is essential to address this need in our community.

Our Workforce Development Center is dedicated to meeting the employment training needs of the people in Randolph and the surrounding areas, regardless of their experience or proficiency level. The workforce re-entry program focuses on helping those that experienced job loss or uncertainty caused by COVID-19. The insecurity stemming from the pandemic can spread like the virus itself, moving from finances to aspirations, ultimately infecting confidence and hope. Our programs target each of these areas, providing real-world skills training like computer skills and customer service training while also rebuilding confidence and offering hope.  

For individuals focused on career growth, our Center offers higher levels of business training, mentorship programs, leadership training, and financial literacy courses. We work with woman-owned and minority-owned businesses by guiding them through the process of achieving their diversity certification. Business owners and professionals from underserved populations can also benefit from our co-work meeting rooms, which provide instant credibility and office space and are available to rent weekly, hourly, or monthly. In addition, financial assistance is available for low-income individuals who need to utilize our business center services. 

THE JOHN MAXWELL TEAM YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

 Our young people are facing unprecedented challenges, and many are ill-equipped to handle these obstacles. Destiny Empowerment Center, Inc. offers a YouthMax program to provide at-risk youth with the resources and support they need to develop into strong adults. Strength of character is the key to tackling many of the issues children face. That’s why we have a Certified John Maxwell Team to provide youth leadership training and development to our community’s young people.

The John Maxwell methods give kids and teenagers practical tools and ideas, focusing on four key areas:

1) Stand Up & Be Counted 

This anti-bullying campaign supports kids who have experienced bullying, teaches the importance of not bullying others, and shows kids how to prevent bullying in their schools.

2)  Fail Forward to Success

Learning that failure is a steppingstone to success is a critical life skill, and this aspect of our YouthMax program teaches children how to learn from their failures and use setbacks to their advantage.

3) Build a Positive Self-Image

How we feel about ourselves informs almost every decision we make in our lives, from education and career ambitions to personal relationships. Young people need a positive self-image in order to make healthy life choices.

4) Develop Strong Personal Character 

Integrity, honesty, resilience, respect, and compassion are a few character traits our YouthMax program instills in our community's youth. 

The young people in Randolph and the surrounding areas need caring guidance and real-world skills to succeed in the future. 

THE JOHN MAXWELL TEAM PARENTING & FAMILY PROGRAM

We believe that strong families build strong communities. That’s why we use the John Maxwell Parenting and Family Coaching program developed by Dr. Deborah Tillman. This program provides a comprehensive approach to personal development in the context of family relationships and roles. 

Through the methods created by Dr. Tillman, our participants receive tools, strategies, and tips to become the highest version of themselves. The methodology includes lessons on how to set a positive example, learning to respond not react, building a connection before correcting behavior, and the importance of investing in yourself.

The future of every family matter, so we expand our efforts to work with schools, churches, and other organizations, in addition to parents. We also provide services and training specifically for dads, single parents, and blended families. 

When we improve ourselves, we positively affect our homes and our children. When we change our families, we can transform our communities into healthy, supportive environments for everyone.

 Program Description – 

Approximately 50 million people in America struggle with a mental illness, and over half do not receive treatment. Mental health awareness and lowering the barriers to treatment are crucial elements of the push toward a more inclusive and healthy society. By focusing on compassion, hope, kindness, and equity, everyone can help remove systemic and economic barriers preventing many people from accessing mental healthcare services. 

At Destiny Empowerment Center, we offer our clients individual therapy sessions for coping with trauma and feelings of grief, fear, anxiety, and hopelessness. Therapy modalities offered in-center include positive psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization, and dialectical behavior therapy. 

Clients can also take part in life coaching sessions, which are designed to help those struggling with setting goals, career stress, and time management. 

For our community members affected by mental illness, we offer an opportunity to find connection and healing to recover from a traumatic past and map out a thriving future. We all need help from time to time, and we hope to show our clients that there’s no shame in seeking assistance. Our services exist to provide a helping hand, listening ear, or shoulder to cry on for anyone who may need it.
